Secure English language testing announced for Tier 4 (General) applicants (21/07/2010)
The UK government announced today, 22 July 2010, that it will be introducing mandatory secure English language testing for adult students studying below degree level under Tier 4 (General) of the points-based system.
The new requirement will come into effect on 12 August 2010. Students will need to demonstrate, through an approved test, that they already have the required level of English language competence to apply for a visa to study in the UK. Only approved test providers will be able to deliver these secure tests. For details of the changes and a list of approved test providers see the full news report on the UK Border Agency website.
The requirement to take a test will not apply to English language courses. For further information on if and how these changes apply to you please see the Guidance for applicants on secure English language testing.
