Many UK companies and universities also have similar sponsorship programmes.

Scottish International Scholarship Programme
All applicants under this Programme are required to pay the student visa fee, which will be refunded by the British Council.

The Scottish Executive (SE) introduced this Programme in April 2005: it is open to 22 students each year from China (9 students), India (6), South Africa (2), Australia (2), Singapore (2) and New Zealand (1); to study Masters courses in the Science, Technology and Creative industries in Scotland (including arts, design and culture).

Eligibility
Applicants will be selected jointly bt the British Council and the SE and will need to comply with the following criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident in one of the nominated countries (except Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) at the time of application;
  • Be aged between 25 and 35 years old at the time of the application;
  • Have between 3 and 5 years relevant work experience;
  • Hold a quality first degree in a related subject from a recognised university;
  • Not have previously received UK government funding.

Applicants should be treated under paragraph 57 of the Rules. The applicant will need to produce evidence from the administrators of the programme that he/she has been granted a scholarship and that tuition fees along with a small living allowance will be paid. Entry clearance should be issued to 31 October in the year the Masters course ends, on Code 2 conditions. Please note, the course will not be more than 12 months duration.
